interview

I interview Stephanie Lutton Carey who is a mechanical engineer here at USF she is also a foundations of engineering teacher where she explained most of this information to us during a seminar.
According to Stephanie there is a mechanical engineering is a very popular profession that is in high demand right now where most people graduating USF with a BS in mechanical engineering are making around $55,000 right out of college. Also the job market is one of the most secure out of all of the engineering disciplines only second to civil engineering and that she believes that job opportunities and job security will remain high even during this economic downturn. She also said that while I did not need a masters degrees to find a job it would make it much easier and my income would be substantially higher that if i just went after i got my Bachelors.

She also went on to say that a very good way to make myself more desirable to companies was to get involved in the mechanical engineering society here on campus and to actively participate in their activities and competitions. She also said that i should start applying for internships to different local companies so that I can become accustomed to what mechanical engineers do. Stephanie didn't think there would be much that could hinder me in getting a job unless i did poorly in school and did not apply for jobs while still in school but other than this she said I should be able to find a job.

Stephanie also said that most of the students who graduate with a BS in mechanical engineering tend to go to places like automotive shops, national defense companies. When i told her that I wanted to become a gun manufacturer she thought that I was in the correct field to do what I wanted and that several of my classes could relate to the processes of making firearms such as working with machine parts and working with different metals.

Footprint

I found out my footprint and it said that it would take 4.6 planets to provide enough energy if everyone else lived the same way that i do. But when i went back and listened to the suggestions the program gave me i was able to bring my footprint down to 3.6 planets. I is hard for me to answer some of these questions because i live in a dorm suite with seven other people and together we use/waste a lot of energy and i believe that if i lived on my own in an apartment that my footprint would be much much smaller. I also believe that since i do not drive or vacation very often the only thing that keeps my score so high is that I eat a lot of meat which brings my score up and that also i requires services, both of these combined make my score very large and i cannot think it would be much cheaper to reduce them since i will not stop eating meat and i do not believe i believe it would be more expensive to buy locally grown food and not worth.

24 hours with no communication technology

I started at 1:00pm on tuesday November 11 when I woke up. Once i was up i went and took a shower then went and got lunch with my roomates. After i was done eating it was around 2:10 and i went back to my dorm room and read for an hour for my foundations of engineering class. Once I was done reading i went to my friends house back in south tampa to see what he was up to but he wasn't at home and since i could not get into contact with himi went to the rifle range where i spent several hours talking to some of the store owners and making sure my hunting rifles were sighted in properly. It was about 6: 42 when i got back to my dorm room and i worked on my chemisrty and math homework until 10:00 pm and then i went and ate dinner with my roomates again and played pool at Beef O' Brady's until 11:30 and then i went home and went to bed.

Overall i liked not being allowed to use communication technology for a day, it was a nice break from my normal routine of spending most of my day on the computer using facebook or playing video games but I definately would not want to do this for more than a day or two because you can become quite lonely unless you have friends around you all day so you dont have to call them to see what they're up too. I also found it hard to meet up with friends becuase there is no way to know what they are up too so it can be hard to do things with friends unless you live with them or close to them.

Challange in 4 years

The challenge that i believe i will have to face in four years is going to be finding a job. I plan on majoring in mechanical engineering and I would like to become either a gun smith or even a work for a gun manufacturer. With the decline in our economy and with Barack Obama as president there might be a few complications because he might try to place restrictions on firearms. If he was to place restrictions on guns manufacturer would lose profit forcing them to stop hiring or even lay people off. There is no real way to stop this from hapening unless the senate does not allow his proposal to pass which is highly unlikely becuase the democrats hold the majority in the senate. The only way I can think to overcome this would be to gain as much experience during college and then applying everyone i can even to local gunshops.

different thesis statements for video game

The video game that i am writing about is called Assassins Creed

My first idea for a thesis is to write about vigilantism and how i believe that it is not morally or ethically wrong but it is a major controversy.

My second idea is to write about how ethically wrong it is to keep and treat someone as an experiment against their will.

My third idea is to write about how morally and ethically wrong it is to try and make and entire race believe in your own beliefs as the Christians did during the crusade.

Two video game articles

My first article is called Playing video games seems to have few serious acute adverse effects on health
http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/324/7346/1159
This article is stating that video games are not as bad for people as other people say they are. The writer goes on to say that most negative effects of video games are usually mild and will disappear once the person stops playing the games and they occur in children and young adults who play the games excessively. They also go on to say that there are positive side effects to playing video games as well, like relieving the pain from children who have undergone chemotherapy.

My second article is called Featured Report:Emotional and Behavioral Effects of Video Games and Internet Overuse
http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/17694.html
This article is about the pros and cons of abusing video games and the Internet. It goes to describe the most common video game players and the potential benefits and side effects mentally and physically of playing video games for long periods of time. It also describes the behavioral effects and the attempts to control game content so it doesn't make people as violent and aggressive.

3 games

1) The first game I played was Airport Security. In this game you have to seize certain objects from people and their luggage things like toasters, portable video games, shoes, hats, etc. The purpose of this game is to entertain and to show how ridiculous some of our airport regulations are. This game is not steered to any specific group of people, it's meant for everyone. Airport Security is a strategy that is very simple to play, you just click on the item(s) that are restricted but it can get confusing because they change the regulations about every 20 seconds.

2)The second game I played was Click for Obama. In this game you answer trivia questions about history and downplay the other candidates political status. The purpose of this game is to test your history knowledge and help support Obama. The audience for this game is anyone who supports Obama, when you answer enough questions it sends adds out into the Internet. This is a trivia game and it is a very simple game just click on the right answer, some of the questions are difficult but if you play long enough they will repeat.

3)The third game I played was Xtreme X-mas Shopping. In this game you have to rush around a store to pick up your children's presents before they are sold out and beat up other parents if they have the present you want. The purpose of this game is to show how crazy some parents get when it comes to getting presents for their children. It is a strategy games because you have to watch what the other parents are trying to get but also an action game because you ahve to fight for toys if thehy are all sold out. It is a fairly simple game to play, you use the arrow keys to move and the spcae bar to fight and pick up the toys you have to buy, but you have to be directly in front of the toys you want or else the character will not pick them up.
